Biography

Ryan and Joshua Brown are native Californians who have lived within the world of architecture and design their entire lives. They grew up along the beach just north of Malibu where their parents founded their own residential development firm.

"Our parents instilled in us a respect for our environment, the belief that there is beauty all around us." Ryan and Joshua apply these same values to their work. This allows them to blend a variety of elements in a simple and natural way. "We believe in juxtaposing a mixture of modern and primitive components against simple clean lines. Our best work comes when we are able to combine the client's personal needs and style with our own instincts." And traveling is one of the most important ways they find inspiration. The influence of these excursions can be seen in their work.

Not only is Ryan the principle of Brown Design & Development, but he can also be seen on the hit show, "Flipping Out" airing on BRAVO and CNBC all over the world. Season 2 airs on June 17, 2008.

Joshua attended the prestigious Pratt Institute in NYC for Interior Design. The U.S. News and World Report's 2009 Edition of America's Best Graduate Schools ranked Pratt the #1 school in the United States for Interior Design.

The expertise of the Brown brothers, engaging in both interior design and full scale residential development in the Los Angeles area and beyond, sets them apart from other designers.
