If you are looking for a fail proof accessory, try this "aged teak ring" from D.A.O. in Los Angeles.  This particular piece is a by-product of a teak plantation.  This comes from the top portion of a stump that is  left after harvesting the log.  The organic texture and white wash patina are the results of natural weathering.

 

Seen below are examples of this type of accessory being used in both a modern and traditional application.  Organic pieces are so adaptable in any style of home--making them the perfect accessory.

  

First Impressions

Your front entry is often one of the first things noticed by your visitors and people passing by.  What is your door saying about you?

Changing the color of your front door is a simple and inexpensive way to make a statement and set the tone for your home.  It is common to see homes on the east coast with painted doors.  And traditionally, in Feng Shui, the door is painted red.  But since we aren't traditionalists, we encourage you to branch out and give your entry a face lift.

Designing a Custom Cabinet - Part 2

In April we showed you the inspiration and drawings for a cabinet we were designing for a client.  We had two of these cabinets built to hold various glass accessories in the client's dining room.  The grey and yellow stain on the cabinet add color, personality and make a statement in the room.

 

Decorative Register Covers

Unattractive vents will no longer take away from good design with decorative register covers. 

In the image below, we used registers in an oil rubbed bronze finish for a client's traditional home. 

This white cover keeps the vibe clean in a modern application. 

Even major retailers like Restoration Hardware are selling register covers.  They come in a variety of styles, finishes, and sizes and are extremely affordable.
