Since our designers are constantly discovering chic furniture and accessories, we are going to start publishing a weekly blog featuring a "pick of the week."

Fresh Upholstery Ideas

Here is a fresh idea for taking a vintage or existing piece of furniture, reupholstering it, and making it look modern and new.  For a recent project in Los Angeles, we purchased two vintage high-back Scandinavian wing chairs, circa 1960's from Downtown.  We had the chairs reupholstered in two contrasting fabrics as seen in the image below.  The darker beige seen on the side of the chair carried over to the back as well.  This is a great way for anyone to modernize their home. 

 

Adding Character to a Dining Room Table

At a recent project in the Hollywood Hills, we added interest in the dining room by mixing two different chairs.  In this case, we used new chairs from DIVA and mixed them with vintage chairs from Downtown. The vintage chairs were reupholstered in a contrasting mohair fabric and were perfect for the head of the table.  

The lesson here is not to be afraid to try new things in your home.  Not everything you buy has to match... in fact, we prefer that it didn't!
