Look for Less

We installed this vintage Moroccan light fixture leading into the dining room of a client's home.  They have traveled all over the world and wanted to accent their home with interesting pieces to represent some of their travels. 

 

If you're looking to incorporate something similar into your own home, you can find less expensive options from major retailers.  For example, Anthropologie has similar Moroccan fixtures in two styles for less than $400.  These versions are versatile and can be used indoors or outdoors.

Since Flipping Out aired last summer, we have had an overwhelming response to the fabric used on the curtains in the living room of Ryan's home as shown below. 

For those of you who love the classic Kelly Wearstler Empirial Trellis pattern, but aren't looking to invest, we have found the perfect solution for you.  At Etsy's decorative instinct store, we found "trellis" patterned pillows for $65.00.  They are 100% linen with polyester woven suede on the back and come in a variety of colors.  These pillows are chic and affordable too!

This bronzed wrought-iron chandelier pictured below on the left resembles the Ames Ingham fixture (pictured right) that we installed over a dramatic dining room table of a Hollywood Hills project.  This version is from Pottery Barn and completely affordable at only $299.  If the Ames Ingham chandelier is out of your price range, we think this replica is a pretty chic version. 

   

Look for Less

Great design can be done at any price.  Brown Design would like to start offering our blog readers tips on how to find pieces similar to those used in our recent projects, but at various price points.  Many affordable retailers stay on trend and also knock off higher-end designers.  We want to prove that don't have to break the bank to find good style! 

We found this beautiful vintage pendant for a home in Benedict Canyon.  While this exact piece may not be able to be replicated, you may also not want to invest all of your money into one light fixture.  We found two approaches on how to replicate this look for less. 

If your looking for a similar shape and size, try the Globe Pendant at West Elm for $129.00.  This pendant offers a clean and modern approach. 

We also discovered a similar pendant at Anthropologie.  This version offers more of a vintage take and retails for only $268.00.
